Pat Grayson Jebavy completed her life of giving and loving on earth when she went to be with her Lord and her loved ones in heaven on 16 July 2015. She died of natural causes surrounded by her family. Pat gave unselfishly of herself as a daughter, wife, daughter-in-law, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, aunt and friend. She will be mourned and missed by all of us, but she will remain in our hearts forever.

On 21 August 1927, Pat was born at home to Roland and Sylvia Grayson on Lincoln Avenue in Chicago. She was the second of 3 children, between her older brother, Dick, and her younger sister, Priscilla. She graduated from Proviso High School in Maywood, Illinois. Her future husband, Bob, was 2 years ahead of her at Proviso but they did not meet until he visited her brother Dick in their home after Bob returned from the war. Pat and Bob married in 1947 and were united until his death in 2010. Together they raised 5 children and lived the American dream. Now they are united once again.

Specializing in stenography, typing and bookkeeping, she worked for her father in his store, then for Public Service Company, then for the Vulcan Tin Can Company and at the Hines/Vaughn VA Hospital, all in the Chicago area. When she began her 40 years of raising children she devoted herself as a full time mom until her youngest child was in school. Her last employment was at Cardinal School in Richardson as the assistant director.

Pat rarely put herself first, with her husband, children, grandchildren, friends, church and community all taking priority. In recognition of her generous community work, she was a finalist for Richardson volunteer of the year. Among the recipients of her devotion were: Mothers’ Club of Harmony School (president), Network of Community Ministries, the Richardson Literacy Center, her daughters’ Girl Scout troops, and St. Barnabas Presbyterian Church where she served as clerk of the session, helped coordinate memorial services and worked on the newsletter. Using her lifelong needlework skills, she regularly crocheted lap robes for senior citizens and especially for the veterans at the Dallas VA Hospital.

Pat enjoyed taking care of her family, volunteering, doing needlework, playing bridge, completing word search puzzles, watching the Texas Rangers, being with her 4-legged companion Hobbes, visiting with friends and traveling. She and Bob traveled to 25 countries, most of the Caribbean islands, and 45 states. Their favorite vacation was cruising, and she sailed on 15 cruises, including many family cruises.

Pat was named “safe driver in Richardson” by the Richardson Police Department in 1964. In fact, when she stopped driving at the age of 87, she still had not had a traffic ticket.

Sunday evenings and holidays on Lomita Avenue in Richardson will never be the same; Pat hosted the family there for holidays and special occasions and every Sunday night for dinner, a tradition that kept the family very close.

Pat is predeceased by her parents, her husband Bob, her daughter Barb, and her brother Richard. She is survived by her other children Linda Jebavy Mitchell, Robert Jebavy (Candy), John Jebavy, and Judy Heckler; granddaughters Jessica Carter (Bryan), Becca Clark (William), and Justine Heckler; her sister Priscilla Rutter; her sister-in law; her nieces and nephews; and Hobbes.

Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 10:00 AM followed by a Celebration of life 11 am at St. Barnabas Presbyterian Church.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Barnabas Presbyterian Church Richardson or Mary Kay Foundation.".
