of which 402 poinds was real estate; homestead, 280 pounds


John Whittemore

John of Leicester
Removed to Leicester from Rumney Marsh ( in Chelsea) where he was then residing in 1726. Here he bought the farm, on which he lived through the remainder of his life.  Deed dated Jan 9 1726 and is from William Keen to John Whittemore and Nathaniel Richardson, his wife's father, conveying 347 acres, in consideration of the payment of 320 pounds. Subsequently his father in law, for "good and sufficient consideration," conveyed his undivided half to his son in law, by a quit claim deed, dated Oct 25 1728.
Here he built his first house about 1730, about sixty rods southwestfrom that which he afterwards built,where his grandson Joseph lived a6 the time of his death , in 1859. This farm he devised to his youngest son. "Lieut" James and it coninued in the possession of his descendants till 1864, a period of  one hundred and thirty-eight years.It is now owned (1893) by Mr Chas W Grosvenor,

John of Leicester was called Deacon in 1735 and Captain in 1746 in a note from Col John Chandler of Worcester, sep 22 1746.

died age 42
Ruth Bassett widow of John was admin of his estate she rendered her account of ad jun 12 1732, Joseph , the third sonof John  being then present (Middlesex co Probate records)

David Whittemore

res Boston MA when married 1730/31
Came to New Hampshire simetime between 1730and 1741 He was the second Whittemore to come to the state of New Hampshire from the original Hive in Charlestown MA.
Samuel son of Thomas 1 who located in Dover NH being the first.
Deed for David's farm in Litchfield was dated Dec 301741 His descendants have occupied that farm ever since. (1893) a period of 150 years.


Pelatiah Whittemore

He was the gaurdian of Edmund and David Whittemore, subsequently of Litchfild N.H.
